At a conference organized by remspace on the future of the capital, it was said that the key to a livable and accessible city is to plan smartly and sensitively connect the metropolis with its surroundings.Michal Vencl, Development Director of the Fidurock group, drew attention to the irreplaceable importance of rail suburban transport, the construction of a network of parking lots at the junction points of the Central Bohemian Region and a well-thought-out connecting transport infrastructure. At the same time, he emphasized the need to allow the city to grow where it makes sense.“At Fidurock, we focus on revitalizing older apartment buildings in city centers. We give them new life and potential – often even extra floors, if the location and regulations allow it. It’s not about high-rise buildings, but about respecting the original development and its appropriate addition, combined with the need to respond to today’s real estate situation. In practice, however, we often encounter strict regulations and standards that complicate even logical adjustments to the development. However, when the development of a city is approached with reason and at the same time with respect for progress, the best possible solution emerges. That is why we believe that the debate on the Building Act and permitting processes should become a societal issue. It affects everyone who wants to live well in Prague,” Vencl points out.The future of a city takes place in cooperation, in dialogue and in the ability to find a balance between tradition and development.
